Chapter 6 marks the middle point of Camino de Santiago 360º. We go from Sahagún up to Hospital de Órbigo.
We enter the province of León, the “thousand-year-old kingdom of the cecina and the botillo”, Antonio’s words. At Sahagún’s entrance, they observe the statues that indicate the middle point of the Way, while they evoke one of the most famous scenes of ‘ The Neverending Story’.
In the lodging of Bercianos del Real Camino, our walkers meet again, with displeasure, with the snorer pilgrim. Once in the capital of the province, we will have several options of visit: the Gothic Cathedral with its wonderful windows, the Inn of León or San Isidoro of León, ‘ the Sistine Chapel of the Romanesque style’.
After crossing the medieval bridge of Hospital de Órbigo, we finish the stage. Astorga will welcome us in the next chapter.
Come on, pilgrims! Santiago is near.
